My change proposal is on “Nursing Shortage” in the health care system. The intervention to be implemented in the strategic plan to deal with the nursing shortage problem was nurse training and education. Nurse training and education will equip nurses with the skills and knowledge to work in departments with shortages. Various resources will be required to implement the plan successfully. The most important resources needed are money or funds, specialized nurses to deliver the content, the delivery methods, and time.
Funds or money are essential for any plan to be implemented successfully. The healthcare facility should have enough funds to implement the plan in the organization. The management should be involved in budgeting for the plan by setting aside a certain amount of money (Kennedy, 2019). The funds or money will be used to buy the required equipment, such as stationery and computers, to teach and train the nurses. Money will also be used to motivate the nurses who train others. The money will also buy snacks and drinks for the sessions. Sitting allowances can also be achieved when there is enough money. Thus, enough funds are crucial for the implementation of the plan.
The other vital resource is the human resource for teaching and training the nurses. In this case, the organization should have at least one specialized nurse in each field who is highly skilled and knowledgeable (Pesut & Greig, 2018). For example, with a shortage in the ICU, the hospital should have at least one nurse specialized in critical care who will train other general nurses. Specialized nurses will be scheduled to train and educate other general nurses (Pesut & Greig, 2018). Therefore, highly skilled, knowledgeable, and specialized nurses are required to train other nurses.
The third important resource is delivery method equipment. In this case, teaching aids will be required in the education and training program. Audio-visual teaching aids will be the best for the plan. Computers for making PowerPoint presentations and projectors will be required for display for better understanding. The organization will also be required to buy models for demonstrations. Whiteboards and whiteboard pens will be needed to use for teaching and education. Thus, the delivery method equipment, including stationary like files and notebooks, is essential (Grainger, Amin & Watkins, 2021). The fourth resource is time. Nurses are busy and have varying schedules. Therefore, time needs to be set aside during specific days, such as during morning hours on specific days like every Monday when all nurses are available (Martínez-Linares et al., 2019). Enough time is essential for the whole process.
